Quality Laminate Flooring
Important message to Dodd & Souter clients,
Recent news in the marketplace has raised questions about laminate and hardwood flooring products. The CBS program 60 Minutes aired a story regarding excessive levels of formaldehyde emissions from Chinese laminate flooring sold by certain flooring stores in the United States. We are concerned about these reports and want to take this opportunity to clarify the issue for our clients and community.
It is important to note that these excessive emission levels do not occur in all laminate flooring. At Dodd & Souter Flooring we sell several brands of laminate and hardwood. Some products are manufactured in China. All products meet or exceed safe levels of emissions under North American standards. Many products meet or exceed the EI European Standards, which is equal to or better than any North American requirement for formaldehyde emissions.
Meeting and exceeding safe levels of emissions is certainly achievable when you purchase products made by reputable manufacturers. In essence, you get what you pay for. There is price to ensure compliance.
Many North American manufacturers have been doing business with Chinese Manufacturers for years. These Chinese suppliers meet or exceed North American manufacturing specifications. Products are tested by third party laboratories located in North America.
Laminate flooring is a popular choice for many homes. I hope this news doesn’t deter people from considering it as an option. There are many quality products that shouldn’t be avoided because of this recent news.
At Dodd & Souter Flooring, we are committed to excellence in service and are here if you have any questions about this issue. Please call Michelle Souter-Ulch, president of Dodd & Souter Flooring at 905-433-0080.
